Kiss of the Dragon (2001)

“There is a time for diplomacy and a time for action. Diplomacy is dead.” – Richard

Number of Times Seen – 1 (15 Jan 2022)

Brief Synopsis – A foreign intelligence officer is betray and must enlist the help of a prostitute to clear his name.

My Take on it – Horrendous film that makes so little sense.

Jet Li and Bridget Fonda are both great actors, but one wouldn’t know that from watching this film.

The plot gets far too convoluted and fails to bring anything really new to the forefront.

The action scenes are fun to watch due to Li’s martial arts abilities, but that is pretty much all that there really is to see here.

The villain is played by Tcheky Karyo and I prefer him in more drama and ‘good’ roles than what he tries to do here in this villainous one.

The film’s premise is far too generic and fails to find a way to be more engaging and interesting which is quite a shame.

The film’s name is derives from a supposed martial art move that is done here and explained in a pretty detailed way.

Despite having this move’s impact described in a detailed manner, watching it is a whole different ball game and one should make sure that if they chose to watch this film, they make sure that they are no longer in the process of digesting food at the time because it is quite graphic.

That being said, the special effects work well in helping that move play out gruesomely.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Director Chris Nahon had to slow down the fight scene between Jet Li and Cyril Raffaelli because they were moving too fast for the camera. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
