The Desperate Hour (2021)

“Why are you asking me these questions?” – Amy Carr

Number of Times Seen – 1 (25 Feb 2022)

Brief Synopsis – A woman out on a run gets a message that an incident has happened in her community and she must try and find a way back home.

My Take on it – Great premise that works due to the performance by Naomi Watts who makes it feel so realistic and genuine.

This is a clever way to show a story where there is pretty much only one seen character throughout the entire movie.

They do a wonderful job giving the viewer information along with the character and this helps raise the level of suspense and tension throughout.

The movie does a great job showing how much a cell phone can do in order to be as connected as possible even during an ordeal like the one presented here.

This helps the main character played by Watts gather new information as things unfold.

Love the way that they are able to show how a tragedy in a family can possibly cause a chain of events that could lead to the kind of things that happen here.

Watts’s character has such amazing range in this story and that enhances things even more.

The film does a great job of throwing in a bunch of twists and turns along the way which add so much to the suspense of the story and help keep it so engaging to watch things unfold.

This movie works both as a emotional one about family but also as one with a powerful social message.
