“[after a long foot chase] I’m too tired.” – Pat Morrison
Number of Times Seen – 1 (8 Mar 2022)
Brief Synopsis – A group of treasure hunters seek a hidden treasure of gold that was hidden during World War II.
My Take on it – This is a movie that I came across by accident and was intrigued to watch since it is one of the early films featuring future super star Burt Reynolds.
The film does have a bit of an Indiana Jones vibe to it due to the way things play out and due to the grittiness of it all, but the plot is far too simplistic and campy to be even more enjoyable.
The dialogue is a bit too convoluted and things get a bit confusing along the way due to a number of inconsistencies among the discussions between the characters.
Loved seeing Anne Francis in the film and she helps make things more intriguing to watch unfold.
Really liked the way that the film has numerous subplots that are all going on simultaneously which is able to enhance things a bit more as things move along, even if ultimately, things aren’t as satisfying as one might hope for.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Miko Mayama was Burt Reynolds’ live in girlfriend for four years. Until he fell for Dinah Shore. When they split up, he gave Miko an apartment at the beach, a Cadillac convertible and promised to pay her $500 a week for two years. Exactly one day before the two year deadline was up, Miko married Barbara Streisand’s manager. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
