The idea behind this feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies (or ones that I haven’t seen many times) from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.
This month’s genre has been chosen by me and we will be reviewing our favorite Oscar Nominated or Winning Movies.
Please get me your submissions by the 25th of Mar by sending them to andtheOscargoesto…@movierob.net
Try to think out of the box!
Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of Oscar Nominated or Winning Movies……….

Brief Synopsis – A mild mannered valet parking attendant with a secret past must confront everything that he left behind.
My Take on it – This is an interesting MCU origin story that has its moments.
The characters introduced in this film can have an interesting effect on the MCU, but it still remains to be seen how it will be integrated into the Marvel Universe as a whole.
The powers that this superhero wields is not explained too deeply and they leave enough ambiguous that it can go in numerous directions later on.
I really liked how the main character has so much baggage that he is hiding and once it is slowly revealed, we get to see how things change within his world.
The cast is great overall, but I loved seeing a beloved villain form an earlier MCU film return in a humorous role.
The action scenes are done really well and they manage to add an otherworldly feel to the way that the story plays out while still showing its connections to our world.
Can’t wait to see how the MCU uses these characters in the future and if done right, it will enhance the way this film is perceived when looking back.
This film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The symbols in the Ten Rings logo are Chinese characters: “quan” (authority), “li” (power), “zhuang” (strong), “wei” (extraordinary), “jie” (outstanding), “shi” (influential), “hong” (grand), “xiong” (mighty), qiang” (strength) and “wei” (dominant). (From IMDB)
Genre Grandeur Worthy? – Not really. Fun MCU film, but it remains to be seen how it will be integrated properly into the entire Universe.
Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10) (slight downgrade from original review)
