Genre Guesstimation – Bigger Stronger Faster* (2008)

The idea behind this feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies (or ones that I haven’t seen many times) from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.

This month’s genre has been chosen by Tyler of the Geek Card Check and we will be reviewing our favorite Sports Themed Movies.

Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of Sports Themed Movies..

Number of Times Seen – 1 (1 Apr 2022)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the dangers of steroids told by many sports professionals who encourage athletes to be the best they can be.

My Take on it – Such a powerful documentary that is able to explain the real problem in a very straightforward manner while also touching the viewer’s heart by making things so personal. This movie tries to discuss a very taboo topic and does it in a very engaging way that helps make it feel even more relevant to any viewer; whether you are a sports fan or not. They try to burst the bubble on many myths about using steroids and do their best to discuss things in a way that doesn’t dumb things down for the viewer, yet still looks them straight in the eyes as they explain it all.

Genre Grandeur Worthy? – Comes really close. They do an amazing job presenting this very controversial topic and help make it more relevant even to those less familiar with sports.

Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
