“I guess I was what you’d call a fabulist, which is just a nicer way of saying persistent liar. ” – Grown Up Stan
Number of Times Seen – 1 (2 Apr 2022)
Brief Synopsis – A young boy living in Houston in 1969, dreams of his life helping NASA.
My Take on it – Excellent movie that shows what it must have been like for a kid interested in space during the time of the Space Race and the landing on the moon. As a fan of the genre and of the action Apollo (and Gemini and Mercury) astronauts and their flights, I was fascinated to watch this because of the way it all plays out. The way that they used rotoscope animation is superb and that adds even more to the way things move forward here.
Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Jack Black, who voices older Stan, has a personal connection to NASA and the space program. His mother, Judith Love Cohen, helped develop the Abort-Guidance System which ultimately helped get Apollo 13 back to Earth, while she was pregnant with Jack. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10)
