“I am very happy to bring to you the name of the great actor to whom we feel this honor is due. [Bugs makes his way to the stage] This highest honor is being bestowed on an actor who, because of his consistently fine performances, richly deserves this trophy. A fine dramatic actor, [Bugs puts his carrot in his mouth like a cigar, grows thicker eyebrows, points menacingly while twisting his whiskers] and also a master of refined comedy. [Bugs opens his mouth widely and sticks his tongue to the audience] A screen lover, unexcelled, [Bugs morphs into Charles Boyer and romances the carrot] and equally good in character roles. [Bugs morphs into Frankenstein’s monster] I now take extreme pleasure in presenting the Academy Oscar to a fine actor, your favorite and mine, our own… James Cagney. [Bugs does a wild take]” – Presenter

Brief Synopsis – Compilation of some of the first appearances of beloved Warner Brother cartoon characters told in a documentary style.
My Take on it – This is a film that I came across by accident and was quite intrigued to see how they would have dealt with making a documentary/animated film at once.
The movie does a nice job chronicling the history of the Warner Brothers Cartoon Characters and how each of them came to be.
They are able to interview some of the creators of these characters who give so much insight into the creative process decades earlier that led to the way that this all came about.
The documentary is interspersed with the actual short films that were the debuts of each of the described characters which adds more insight into things, but at the same time takes away from the impact that just hearing the origin stories would be able to affect the viewer.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – This is the first ever Looney Toons feature film and the first Looney Toons anthology package compilation film. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
