How to Survive a Pandemic (2022)

“When the whole world is burning, it’s about humanity.” – Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 Apr 2022)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the way that a vaccine was created for the recent COVID-19 pandemic in one of the fastest ways in history.

My Take on it – This is a film that i came across by accident and was interested in seeing how it would show the chronicling of the time line in the creation of a vaccine for COVID-19.

It amazed me how much footage they had from meetings between various health professionals and how they were able to tell this story.

The film is able to really capture the feels of the world as the story moves along in a chronological way while telling us how the virus and the vaccines progress over the two year period shown.

The film asks a lot of important questions along the way, but unfortunately gets derailed by the way that it turns too political instead of trying to stay as neutral as possible while trying to tell this kind of story.

This politicization skews the way that the story is being told and takes too much away from things which is such a shame because they had so much more potential to show things in a much more powerful and profound way and missed that opportunity.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – This documentary began filming in early 2020 as the largest public health effort in history got underway and followed those efforts over the next 18 months, exploring in real time the hard work and collaboration of health agencies worldwide. (From HBO)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
