Brief Synopsis – The tramp tries to find a way to raise money in order to help pay the medical bills of the women he loves.
My Take on it – Such an amazing Charlie Chaplin film because of the way it manages to utilize numerous segments that all stay hilarious. Chaplin was a the master of comedy and this film is further proof of that because he knows what the audience wants to see. The segment with the boxing match is the funniest and even after more than 90 years, it still so funny to watch unfold especially due to the way it is choreographed so perfectly. He also is able to once again show the various differences in the classes and with the advent of sound, he only uses it sparingly, yet quite effectively.
Highly Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Sir Charles Chaplin re-shot the scene in which the Little Tramp buys a flower from the blind flower-girl 342 times, as he could not find a satisfactory way of showing that she thought the mute tramp was wealthy. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy (10/10) (no change from original review)
