Countdown to 9K (#6 of 9) – American Pie Presents – Beta House (2007)

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend. What we had was a rivalry. But what Edgar did got us kicked off campus.” – Rock

Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 Jun 2022)

Brief Synopsis – In order to get into the illustrious Beta House Fraternity, Erik and his friends must accomplish numerous initiation tasks.

My Take on it – This is a film that tries to take some ideas from various college themed films and attempts to mesh them together with this series.

There are numerous scenes that seem to mirror events in Animal House (1978) or Revenge of the Nerds (1984), yet none of them manage to work as well as they do in those films.

The amount of tasks that these characters must complete to become apart of the fraternity is astounding and some of them are extremely funny, despite the majority falling flat.

Unfortunately, things get tiresome quite quickly and that is a big problem here.

As with the other spin-offs/ pseudo sequels, the characters aren’t developed at all and the situations that they end up getting themselves into just doesn’t even reach par because of how it is all presented.

Once again, the ‘thin’ connection here to the previous films is largely due to the appearance of Eugene Levy as Jim’s dad who once again plays an integral part in the history of this franchise and the teens/young adults of this city as they try and achieve their dreams on campus and in the bedroom.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Producers had to train the actors in the “pinch pop” method of unhooking bras for the fiction frat competition.(From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (4/10)
