Countdown to 9K (#7 of 9) – American Pie Presents – The Book of Love (2009)

“This is not a sex manual. It is a life manual. I’ve been married for 35 years, and not just because I’m this handsome dude who knows how to satisfy a woman. I’ve been married for 35 years because I love my wife and I respect my wife. Whether it’s Amsterdam or East Great Falls it all comes down to this: If you’re honest and treat a girl with respect then whatever happens is meant to happen because it’s all perfectly natural. Boys, I’ve prepared you for this quest. And before you lies the biggest test of your lives. This book is a powerful weapon. So, use it for good, not evil. ” – Mr. Levenstein

Number of Times Seen – 1 (15 Jun 2022)

Brief Synopsis – After finding a partially destroyed version of The Book of Love, a group of high school seniors attempt to recreate the pages of the book by contacting the various contributors over the years while also attempting to use the tips included inside to lose their virginity.

My Take on it – Another mediocre addition to the series that has a great premise, but it is unfortunately executed really poorly.

The characters are far too underdeveloped which makes it even harder to care for anything that happens to them along the way.

In some ways, these characters seem even more pathetic than the one sin previous films which doesn’t help make hings more enjoyable.

The best part of this film tho is the fact that Eugene Levy’;s character; Noah Levenstein reappears and is revealed to have a very important part in the creation and recreation of this book.

The film also has lots of great cameos by famous actors as previous authors of various chapters of the book which is so much fun to catch even if they are each onscreen for mere seconds.

The raunch is once again on a high level which goes along with what can always be expected from this series, even if the story itself is quite slim.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In the scene where Rob first takes the check out slips out of the book to find that creator of the Bible (Noah Levenstein), you’ll notice that one of the cards has highlighted characters from past American Pie films names written on it. These names include Jim Levenstein, Kevin Myers, Chris Ostreicher, Steve Stiffler, Dwight Stiffler, Matt Stiffler and Eric Stiffler. Similarly, the names below Noah Levensteins name include multiple ‘Book of Love’ crew members and production members. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (4/10)
