Brief Synopsis – A disgraced former detective is hired to solve a murder, but things are never as they seem.
My Take on it – Great idea that gets too bogged down and convoluted along the way. This is based on a novel and I assume that the novel knows how to convey much more about the story and characters than they do in a visual medium. The cast is ok, but Mel GIbson steals every scene he is in as a eccentric Hollywood actor who does everything in an over the top manner.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In one scene, Mel Gibson tells Charlie Hunman that they are two sides of the same coin, opposites. This is some what true as Mel is an American playing an Englishman whereas Charlie is an Englishman playing an American. Contrary to popular belief Mel Gibson is from New York not Australia. Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
