Tall Tale (1995)

“Respect the land, defend the defenseless and don’t never spit in front of women and children.” – Jonas Hackett

Number of Times Seen – 1 (4 Sep 2022)

Brief Synopsis – In order to try and save his family farm, a young boy meets three fabled men to help him stop a railroad from being built through the town.

My Take on it – Great idea that just doesn’t work at all.

The overall problem that this kid must deal with is one that has been used quite often, but the decision to bring three mythical figures to life is quite unique.

The problem is that things are done in a very superficial way since this is geared more towards children and they sugar coat too much of the way that things unfold.

The cast is fine but Patrick Swayze feels a bit out of his depth playing this kind of character and instead of seeming heroic he feels too much like a humorous caricature.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Originally Gary Sinise was cast as the father, Jonas Hackett, but left the cast to play Lt. Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
