“That’s what war is, Chick. It’s one giant crime scene.” – Arthur
Number of Times Seen – 1 (1 Oct 2022)
Brief Synopsis – A slack-off merchant marine decides to travel to Vietnam in order to deliver beers to his friends serving there.
My Take on it – Interesting idea that works much better than one might expect.
The fact that it’s directed by Peter Farrelly is great because he know how to create a story that is both serious and comedic at the same time.
Zac Efron does a wonderful job in the lead role and helps keep things grounded throughout.
There are some scenes that feel a bit too far-fetched, but they find a way to make it still seem more realistic by the way this is all presented throughout.
The fact that this is based on a true story is mind blowing even if it’s quite obvious that the story as told here is Hollywoodicized.
The film does a nice job of dealing with the way that war was looked upon as being patriot before Vietnam and how is became something else afterwards.
Recommended!
