Shadow Conspiracy (1997)

“He who gets the first sound bite wins.” – Bobby Bishop

Number of Times Seen – 1 (2 Nov 2022)

Brief Synopsis – A top aid to the President is warned of a high level government conspiracy and he must try and uncover it before he is killed by an assassin.

My Take on it – Fun political conspiracy themed film that has so much more potential than is truly realized.

Charlie Sheen was a great actor in the 80’s and 90’s and this film could have done him so much more good had they fleshed out the characters more and made things a bit more thrilling and unpredictable.

He has nice chemistry with co-star Linda Hamilton, but her role is super thin and they missed out on a great opportunity to do something more with it.

The film has a superb cast which makes it even more baffling to see what a mess things are in the final product.

I obviously don;t know who is truly at fault for this premise to not work well enough here, but I hope it was something that happened on the editing floor at the studio because there is so much going for this story that just doesn’t manage to come together properly which is quite a shame.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In interviews for the film, Linda Hamilton took the unusual (and honest) step of saying what she really thought about the movie, calling it “mediocre as hell. Okay, it’s really bad, really bad.” Charlie Sheen even went a step further, stating he “hates this movie”. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
