Moving Violations (1985)

“Aren’t you guys in the wrong room? Shouldn’t you be next door at the pro acid rain rally? ” – Dana Cannon

Number of Times Seen – At least 5 times (A few times on cable in the 80’s and 1 Dec 2022)

Brief Synopsis – A band of misfits sentenced to traffic school must deal with a corrupt instructor who is hoping to repossess their cars and keep the money for himself.

My Take on it – Really quirky, yet funny movie that works despite it feeling too much like a Police Academy (1984) doppelganger.

The cast does a nice job of keeping things fun and entertaining despite it never reaching anything profound.

The film has some memorable characters, especially Nedra Volz who doesn’t act at all like one would expect from the way she looks.

John Murray (Bill’s brother) is a fine comedic actor, but can’t really carry a film as the lead despite his best efforts.

The story is a bit silly, but still manages to have enough laughs along the way.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Nedra Volz was 76 years old at the time of filming. She shot many of her tricky scenes, including sliding and falling to the floor from sitting on a man’s lap, and being lifted through the window onto the floor of the bathroom, without the use of a stunt double. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
