January is my birthday month, so I decided that I would try and do something quite unique and special for this milestone in my life. In the past, I’ve watched and reviewed some of my favorites movies, but this time, I will be doing something different. This year, I will be turning 49, so I decided to watch 50 new movies (49+1 for good luck) (one for each year) that I’ve never seen from the year before my birth (1973) until today in a random order over the course of this month. …

Let’s start off with…

Number of Times Seen – 1 (1 Jan 2023)

Brief Synopsis – Following a Zombie Apocalypse, a group of teens try to save their family and friends from getting bitten.

My Take on it – This is a film that I had been meaning to watch for years, yet never got around to it.

I’m glad that this came out randomly as my first one because I really enjoyed it.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m not a fan of horror films, but Zombie movies don’t fall into that category for me.

The choice to make this story both a horror film and a musical works really well and the sings are quite poignant and timely for the events of the movie.

They don’t shy away from using gore to bring forth its purpose as a horror film, but things happen that also fit in so well with the way that a musical portrays things as well.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The movie was planned to have a full musical opening scene featuring a drunk Santa stumbling though the town centre while the people around him sung “what a time to be alive” this would also feature several minor characters before they are infected however the scene was cancelled halfway though shooting due to poor weather conditions.
