The Good Thief (2002)

“The problem with my game is that luck can fall both ways. Whereas, with your game, luck doesn’t enter into it ” – Bob

Number of Times Seen – 1 (8 Jan 2023)

Brief Synopsis – A thief decides to pull off a final heist before he can retire in a casino, but someone keeps letting the police know where they are.

My Take on it – This is a film with a similar plot to so many other heist films. Nick Nolte is great in the lead role and it’s believable to watch him try to set himself straight before he finishes the current job.  The characters are nicely developed yet none of them give off an emotional bang to help the viewer care more about them.  The film’s plot has some nice twists and turns along with surprises along the way, but they just aren’t enough to make this become more poignant in all that it does.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Nick Nolte admitted in an interview that he took a small injection of heroin in preparation for his role. He claims that in order to play such a character he required the feeling of addiction and what it is to be a heroin junkie. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
