“[singing] Go round, come round, come round… come round, oh distant time. Come round, call back my heart. Come round, call back my heart. Birds, bugs, beasts, grass, trees, flowers. Teach me how to feel. If i hear that you pine for me, i will return to you.” – The Princess Kaguya
Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 Mar 2023)
Brief Synopsis – A simple man and his wife find a baby in a bamboo stalk and after taking her in, they try to raise her to one day become a much sought after wife for numerous suitors.
My Take on it – Very interesting story that works really well. The story is shown as a fairy tale and that helps explain some of the various surprises along the way. The main character is shown to be nearly perfect and is much sought after for marriage when she gets to be old enough. Her wisdom helps her avoid these suitors who she don’t meet her expectations as she starts to discover what her true fate may be. The animation is done really well and they manage to keep things so interesting from start to finish.
