For today’s final review of Diamonds Are Forever, here are my thoughts on it.
Thanks again to Luke and Kim for their reviews earlier today!
“Good morning, gentlemen. ACME pollution inspection. We’re cleaning up the world, we thought this was a suitable starting point.” – James Bond
Number of Times Seen – 2-3 Times (cable in the 80’s and 90’s and 8 Dec 2014)
Brief Synopsis – Bond is sent to Las Vegas to uncover a diamond smuggling ring.
My Take on it – This was Sean Connery’s last “official” run as Bond and he definitely went out on a high note.
This and the his previous 4 outings all were similar enough in structure to make them entertaining, but nothing more than that really.
I liked how they chose to expand Blofeld’s participation movie after movie to have it come to a culmination in this one. Blofeld has never appeared again in a Bond movie since and it was quite fitting that both Blofeld and Connery ended their associations with the “official” Bond together.
Besides that, this movie once again gives us everything we expect to see in a Bond pic; sexy women, deadly gadgets, nefarious henchmen and of course the Bond one-liners we all love and cringe at when hearing.
Bottom Line – Connery definitely knew how to go out with a bang. Exciting Bond tale that has Blofeld so engrossed in the plot that it only seems fitting for this to have been the end of the age of Connery. Gives us everything we can expect from a Bond film. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
