“Sorry I’m late, I was saving the world. You know how it is. ” – Scott Lang
Number of Times Seen – 1 (8 Nov 2015)
Brief Synopsis – A former burglar is recruited to be the protege of a scientist when he tries to keep his discovery away from the military who want to exploit it.
My Take on it – I just missed seeing this in the theater over the summer and was so happy to finally get a chance to finally see it.
This movie has a much “lighter” feel to it than most of the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and although that wouldn’t necessarily work for all of the characters, it worked extremely well in this case.
The choice of Paul Rudd in the lead seemed like a very strange one from the start, but after seeing him in action, it is clear that they made the right choice because he really fits the part really well. He is an actor who knows how to handle both serious and comedic roles and since this movie combines both, he was the right actor to play the character of Ant-Man.
The special effects are great here (as usual) and we get to see how things can look from a very small perspective and still seem real enough.
I’m quite happy that they added him to the MCU roster because his levity will be interesting to see next to some of the more serious characters in future films in the franchise.
Bottom Line – Very fun addition to the Marvel canon. Not as “heavy” as most of the movies in the MCU but still works extremely well. Rudd is an excellent choice as the lead. Great effects help this movie feel even more real. Very interested in seeing Ant-Man in action with the rest of the Avengers in the next movie. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The laser sounds fired from Yellowjacket’s suit are the same sound as the main gun on an AT-AT being fired in the Star Wars movies. Disney of course owns Marvel and Star Wars. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy

Good review. I agree with your points. The refreshing small scale and light humour made this way more entertaining than I expected. Plus the trippy visuals in that small “dimension” were excellent.
