Brief Synopsis – A disc Jockey starts a relationship with one of his fans and then realizes that something isn’t right.
My Take on it – I have always been a fan of Clint Eastwood’s work and many of his films as director are higher on my list than some of the ones where he just acts.
This movie is his directorial debut and for some reason, I never got around to watching it until now.
The pacing of the story is great and it is written in a way to keep us interested the whole time.
The running time is perfect and there are no lulls in the story as it moves along.
The theme of this film has been used over and over in Hollywood movies and I think this one is one of the best in the genre because it leaves us with some nice surprises along the way.
Eastwood lived in Carmel, California for decades and in the 80’s would become mayor, but this movie was set there and the town itself feels like a character of its own in this film.
This movie isn’t perfect, but it’s a great directorial start for Clint (who would go on to win two Oscars for Best Director. (eventhough , he was worthy of winning even more than that because both Mystic River (2003) and Letters From Iwo Jima (2006) were superb.)
Bottom Line – Eastwood’s first film as director. Great pacing and story keep us interested throughout. Many other films like this have come out since, but this one does the genre quite well and leaves us with some nice surprises. Loved how Carmel, California became a character of its own here. Not perfect but a great directorial start for Eastwood. Recommended!

I’ve always heard people say this is a film that influenced Fatal Attraction. Would you agree with that?

It definitely influenced Fatal Attraction and maybe even Billie Jean by Jacko! Great film and one that showed Eastwood had paid very close attention to what his mentor Don Siegel was doing on the films they did together. Great pacing and some great camera set-ups.
