The Assassination of Richard Nixon (2004)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“Slavery never really ended in this country. It just gave it another name… Em-plo-yee.” – Samuel Bicke

Number of Times Seen – Twice (22 Apr 2008 and 17 Aug 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A businessman dealing with a recent divorce tries to find ways to realize the American Dream despite all of his problems.

Bottom Line – Really strange film because of the way it presents these events. Sean Penn is his usual stellar self in this role, but the character isn’t very charismatic or likable which makes it so much harder to acre about everything he says or does along the way The fact that this film is based on real events doesn’t help make things more enjoyable which is quite a shame. Loved seeing Naomi Watts and Don Cheadle in supporting roles.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – This was originally conceived as a fictitious story but, whilst doing research, the writers discovered something very similar had occurred, so decided to let that influence their script. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
