Temporal Top Ten – 2004

2004
top ten

Number of movies seen from this year – 104
Number of movies reviewed – 67 (Including 0 Encore Reviews)

2004 was an interesting year for me in my life. It was the year I got married for the first time and I was also in the Police Academy for the first 5 months of the year.

Of my top ten this year, only 2 of them were actually seen in the theater due to me having a very busy year (#3 and #7)

My #1 is a movie that I saw two years later and due to my impending divorce at the time, I felt a very strong connection to the characters and their situations.  I still believe that it’s Payne’s best movie.

As you can see, only 3 of the 5 Best Picture Nominees made my list; I am not a fan of The Aviator at all, and I enjoyed Ray, but it still didn’t make the list.

I can’t say that this was the strongest year for movies overall, but there are definitely some enjoyable films on the list.

If I ever make a top 10/20 or even a top 30 of the decade, I’d be very surprised if anything beyond #2 make it.

  1. Rob, you’re breaking my heart! No Five People? No Spider-Man 2? Some of these I need to see, but 3 and 8 didn’t thrill me like those two. Something the Lord Made is also really good. Still planning to see Sideways sometime.
