Old Dogs (2009)

“Whoa. Does this drink come with a diving board? It’s insane!” – Dan

Number of Times Seen – 1 (22 Sep 2020)

Brief Synopsis – Two business partner, in the midst of the biggest deal of their careers, must tend to the two estranged children of one of them after his ex-wife must spend 30 days in jail.

Bottom Line – Pretty silly film that despite such a great cast fails to work. John Travolta and Robin Williams are both great actors, yet the way that they play these characters is a bit too strange. The story isn’t very original and plays out in a far too predictable way. The characters aren’t developed on more than a superficial way and that also hurts things.  Williams feels far too restrained here with this character.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The film’s release date was postponed three times. First, due to Bernie Mac’s untimely death. The second time was for the death of John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s son, Jett Travolta. The final time was because Robin Williams had a health scare that required surgery. All of the postponement ultimately caused the movie to be released more than a year after the original, intended release date, finally releasing on November 25, 2009. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
