Brief Synopsis – A dying scientist living in the Antarctic must try and save a young girl accidentally abandoned there while also trying to contact a space mission before they return to a devastated Earth.

My Take on it – Such an amazing idea that works so well.

The film does a wonderful job of juggling the two storylines really well and the transitions between them are performed quite smoothly.

Each of them could have been a movie on their own, yet the way that the story integrates both of them together is superb to watch especially given the fact that they seem to be two totally unconnected stories.

George Clooney is amazing in the lead role and also keeps things together by the way he directs the whole film.

The contrast between scenes in space and scene is the frozen tundra is so much fun to watch especially when trying to uncover the connection between the stories.

The supporting cast is also great with Felicity Jones, David Oyelowo, Caoilinn Springall, Kyle Chandler, Ethan Peck and Damien Bachir all adding so much to the way things play out.

It surprised that this film wasn’t received so well when it came out because I found it to be quite interesting and engaging the whole way through especially given how they develop these characters.

Upon rewatching it, I found things even more thrilling to watch and knowing what happens does add to the way that earlier scenes are understood throughout.

Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Felicity Jones found out she was pregnant after being cast, and George Clooney simply rewrote her part to accommodate. “I did get to sit down a lot, which was a real joy,” says Jones. It ultimately adds layers of jeopardy and hope to the story. Clooney revealed to us that, ‘The fact that Felicity ended up being pregnant…. gave us something that now feels like we should have done it all along, which is to have this other through line, this future, going through it.'” (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10) (no change from original review)
