Horsemen (2009)

“How could we miss this? Sloppy f*cking police work. ” – Det. Aidan J. Breslin

Number of Times Seen – Twice (24 Mar 2011 and 3 Aug 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A detective trying to handle being a single father tries to deal with a string of murders that seem to have connections to the four horses of the apocalypse.

My Take on it – Terrible film that doesn’t manage to work at all.

I’m a big fan of Dennis Quaid, yet this film brings nothing forward for him in order to allow the viewer to like him more.

The mystery here is presented in a really strange way and things move far too slowly for it’s own good.

This makes it so difficult to get through this film.

The plot is far too convoluted and in certain instances makes no sense what so ever.

The choice to make this a cross between horror and thriller also detracts from any kind of real impact that this film could bring since they seem to go a bot too far along the way.

The supporting cast also don’t help add to things here even with Ziyi Zhang in a prominent role.

The one thing that they get right here is the conflict that this character must deal with while trying to juggle his new reality as a single father following his wife’s death and the strain of a detective trying to find a way to stop a serial killer from continuing his rampage.

Unfortunately tho, this is far too little, too late.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Director Jonas Åkerlund was particularly keen on making the movie as authentic as possible in real locations. Consequently only two sets were built for the film(From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
