Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV (2024)

“My hope is that with every voice that comes out, something changes. Maybe today’s the day; I don’t know.” – MJ

Number of Times Seen – 1 (30 Apr 2024)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary that unmasks the various abuses of former child stars on Nickelodeon during the 90’s and 2000’s.

My Take on it – Wow! Such an eye opening documentary that once again shows the sickness of some people in Hollywood. This four part docuseries goes into great detail explaining the various abuses that Nickelodeon teen stars were subjected to over the past 3 decades. They do a great job showing how this abuse was perpetrated on numerous levels that have scarred the former teen victims for decades. The series is also able to try and explain why much of these cases have been kept silent for all of those years. It’s crazy to think that these kind of abuses occurred so frequently in Hollywood and have largely gone unreported for so many years due to the fear and shame that these kids felt. As an added bonus, there is a fifth episode that has interviews with some of the victims following the airing of the series giving new insight into the story as well as getting reactions from them after viewing the whole series.

Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – For years, directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz worked to make sources comfortable with the idea of talking about their experiences, sharing allegations of abuse, sexism, racism and inappropriate dynamics on sets, mostly under creator Dan Schneider. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10)
