Brief Synopsis – A former stunt man returns to the field when he must try and locate the actor he use to be a stunt double for.
My Take on it – Fun action film that doesn’t have much to do with the TV show it is based on. The story is told in a very tongue in cheek method which constantly drops the fourth wall with the audience which helps make things more entertaining to watch since it rarely takes itself seriously. Ryan Gosling is great in the lead role and helps keep things so engaging throughout. The film is literally a love letter to the stunt people in movies and there are so many references to their amazing work even when the story doesn’t really need it. The biggest problem here is that the story plays out in a very predictable manner and the lack of real chemistry between Gosling and co-star Emily Blunt hurts things slightly. The list of movie references mentioned by the characters is so much fun to see especially for a movie lover like myself.
