Assassination (1987)

assassination“I won’t miss Cal’s inauguration if this eye turns red, white, and blue!” – Lara Royce Craig

Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times (Cable in the 80’s and 2 Jul 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A veteran secret service agent is tasked with protecting the First Lady and must keep her safe when assassins strike.

My Take on it – Charles Bronson was known for being a top action hero in the 1960’s and 70’s. He didn’t slow down when the 80’s came around as he was entering his 6th decade.

This movie reminded me somewhat of In the Line of Fire (1993) in the way it portrayed an aging agent trying to thwart an attempted assassination and thr relationship with a MUCH younger agent.

Bronson starred in many of his movies opposite his real life wife Jill Ireland and this marked their final collaborative movie together.

Basically the story and action are average for a mid 80’s action thriller, but nothing in this movie really stands out.

Bottom Line – Average 80’s action movie. Nice to see 64 year old Chuck hold his own, but really nothing special here.

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
