birders guide to everything“Everyone copes differently.” – Lawrence Conrad

Number of Times Seen – 1  (9 Sep 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A teenager who spends most of his time watching birds believes that he has found a ling extinct duck and convinces his friends to join him in a quest to find the mythical bird.

My Take on it – I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie.

The journey of the teenagers reminded me very much of Stand By Me (1986) due to their comradere, their conversations, their conviction in getting there first and of course their vigilence in finding their own true selves.

The characters arent as innocent as the kids in Stand By Me (1986) but since this is a modern tale, it would be strange for them to be like them.

The young unknown actors do a wonderful job here and the added help from Ben Kingley in a supporting role doesn’t hurt at all.

Bottom Line – Very good teenage journey movie in the spirit of Stand By Me (1986). Story is interesting and the characters are fun to be around for 90 minutes. Unknown young cast do a great job. Highly recommended!

Rating – Oscar Worthy
