Being that Darren and I both love watching lots and lots of movies, we decided to start a new weekly series where we challenge each other to watch a new movie that we enjoyed and feel the other one might also.
The rules are simple; it has to be a movie we have NEVER seen, (not just not reviewed)
Every Tuesday, we will both post both reviews on our sites.
Let’s hope we both can add lots of new favorites to our personal lists
For my review this week, here are my thoughts on…..
“[after removing the Siphon’s helmet] You looked better *with* the helmet! ” – Jack Bruno
Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Dec 2015)
Brief Synopsis – A cab driver and a UFO specialist try to help two extraterrestrial children return to their home planet
My Take on it – I grew up on the original movie of this series grom the 70’s and to me its biggest draw was the innocence of the characters and the wonderment of their unique powers.
This movie tries to take those ideas and thrust them into an action adventure mode which makes the movie lose much of its magic.
The characters are very generic stereotypes across the board which makes yhe film feel unoriginal and borderline mediocre because it misses so many opportunities to make it more fun and adventurous for the viewer.
I am constantly amazed at how The Rock keeps getting lead acting jobs because of his muscles, because he has very little acting talent per se.
Bottom Line – Tries too hard to be an action movie instead of relying on the innocence of the original movie. Very generic characters from start to finish make the movie feel very average and unoriginal instead of ground breaking and wondrous as it should. The Rock’s lack of acting talent shones throughout.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The main title editing team put in Morse code into the sound mix that says “please turn off your cell phones”. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy

The Rock is a true Movie Star rather than a Film Actor, he is in the league of Arnie and Stallone
