“Chewie, we’re home. ” – Han Solo
Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 Dec 2015)
Brief Synopsis – The further adventures set in a Galaxy Far Far Away where a new generation of heroes continue the fight of our heroes from the previous episodes.
My Take on it – How does one describe the feeling of finally seeing the movie that we have all been waiting for for over 32 years.
This is the kind of movie that we have been waiting to see because it fits into the canon of the Star Wars “world” so well.
I personally am a big fan of the prequels, but after seeing this movie, they feel a bit less connected to the look and feel of the SW Universe than this one does, which is a bit interesting since those movies were conceived by George Lucas and this one wasn’t.
It was great to once again see old faces of friends long gone and to meet the new generation of heroes and villains who bring new life to the Galaxy far far away that we all know and love.
The only problem that I can say I had with this movie is that it leaves us wanting to see and know so much more about what has happened over the last 30 years in their “world” and also to see what will happen in the future episodes being created.
This is both good and bad, but that’s the nature of the beast.
JJ Abrams have done a wonderful job reintroducing us to their world and I can’t wait to see this (at least) once more in the theater (with 2 of my sons) and many more times over the months and years to come.
Bottom Line – Worth the 32 year wait. Definitely worthy of being part of the Star Wars movie canon. Loved seeing old faces and meeting new characters who bring life to that galaxy far far away. Leaves us wanting much more which is both good and bad. Looking forward to seeing this again in the theater and many more times afterwards. Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Mark Hamill was the same age (63) while filming his role for this film as Sir Alec Guinness was when filming his scenes in the 1977 original Star Wars film. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy

I’ll be seeing this movie on Monday the 21st. So far, I’ve heard nothing but fantastic reviews about it. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since 1977 and have seen the original and prequel trilogies many times since. Can’t wait!! 🙂

This movie was definitely worth the wait, and I plan to see it again and eventually add the DVD to my SW collection. 🙂 There were many moments of history repeating itself, but in new and updated ways. R2D2 was cute, but BB8 is way cooler…how can you not love him? I love the new characters, and I have a feeling about the female lead’s relevance in the storyline, but I’ll probably have to wait till Episode VIII or IX to see if I’m right. Only 1 thing disappointed me but it had to do with the storyline and not the acting or quality of the movie…I won’t mention it because it’s a spoiler and if you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know what I’m talking about. All in all, Ep VII was wonderful and in many ways even better than the original.

Good review, Rob. Amazing movie eh! I think your kids are going to love it too. There were so many great parts. Never boring. Excitement and mystery blend perfectly with comedy. I won’t get into spoilers here, but stay tuned for nerdy theory article later tonight.

Nice review, Rob. I was interested to see what you thought as you actually liked those prequels. Glad to see that this one has shown you the light! Lol! (The prequels were massively disappointing to me). I’ll try to rate this soon… I still haven’t decided on a rating! But I did think it was great. Especially the new characters. 🙂

You’ve really got me thinking with this film. Am i based on sentimentality o was the film so much cooler when it focused more on the old characters than the new ones?

Both I think!

I know people seem to like the new characters but I don’t see they will be thought of the same as the originals were 20 30 years later. They just seemed so similar to most modern characters.

I respectfully disagree. Its a great story with characters for the new generation

Couldn’t agree more with your review – How are you at theories? Do you partake or just wait until the movie comes out? (Supreme leader Snoke – Rey’s parents – Kylo embracing the light & the dark? etc.)

I always enjoy listening to theories, but in the end, all the speculating wont help because its what the writers want, not what we wish for.
Remember when there were rumors that JarJar was actually Boba Fett? 🙂

haha I would hope that most fans would have enough faith in the writers and directors to not believe that! I am just hoping that they bring the true balance of the force into the movies. Mace Windu was one of my favorite overall characters, and his past was solely focused on having a balance, both dark and light – I hope they bring this in, and have either Kylo or Rey begin to learn how to control both.
