This is my 2,004th movie review
Thanks to Emma for recommending this film to me!
[referring to Deb’s milk] “I see you’re drinking 1%. Is that ’cause you think you’re fat? ‘Cause you’re not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.” – Napoleon Dynamite
Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 Feb 2016)
Brief Synopsis – A quirky teen with a very strange family befriends a new kid in school and tries to help him run for Class President
My Take on it – Before watching this movie, I had heard the title of it on numerous occasions, but had no idea what it was about.
The story is VERY quirky and it’s easy to see that it isn’t for everyone.
I enjoyed some of the scenes where they take things to the extreme which elicits laughs, but this whole movie’s premise is based on those scenes and they just overuse it all.
In the end, I just felt that it was all too outrageous for everything to happen the way that it does.
The characters and story are overall interesting, but get too annoying too quickly which made me quite happy that this was a relatively short film.
Be aware that there is a 5 minute epilogue AFTER the credits which gives even more closure to the character’s stories.
Great music in this soundtrack helped me stay focused!
Bottom Line – Not the biggest fan of quirky movies like this. Liked some of the scenes where they made things seem too far to the extreme, but at the same time there were just too many that it all seems too outrageous. Interesting but annoying characters that made me glad the movie was short. Excellent soundtrack tho.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Jon Heder was paid $1,000 to play Napoleon Dynamite. The movie grossed over $40,000,000 in the United States. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy

Should have known Emma would make a good choice 🙂 There aren’t many films as polarising as this one but I enjoyed it. Were you tempted by any of the dance moves on show? haha

That last song in particular for me. And Forever Young is cute. Not very often you hear an atomic bomb being referenced in lyrics haha.
