Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018)

“When you break the Internet you don’t literally have to *break* the Internet! ” – Yesss

Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Dec 2018)

Brief Synopsis – Ralph and Vanellope travel into the Internet in order to find and replace a broken part of her video game.

My Take on it – I’m usually not the biggest fan of sequels, but they do an excellent job here taking the story of the first film and moving it forward instead of just rehashing the original story.

They are able to take the visual images that are familiar from the first film and make them even more relevant for the world of the Internet.

The story itself is set and presented in quite a poignant way that things work on various levels.

They are able to show the viewer on a relatively simplistic level how the Internet works from an interesting and intriguing visual perspective.

This time around, they once again get it right by mixing together various animation levels of graphics which helps make each and every character and segment of the story still feel unique yet also keep with the rapidly evolving world of the Internet.

The story has a great message and works really well for both adults and kids, each on their own level.

As with most Disney animated films these days, the voice cast is great. (How can one go wrong when using Gal Gadot?)

Love how they are able to give us so many cameos of various Disney Universe characters which helps keep things so enjoyable.

The references in this film to the history of the Internet is vast and I’m sure I missed lots of them.

Can’t wait to see this again in order to try and catch all the ones I missed because it feels like a treasure hunt.

Bottom Line – Really fun sequel that takes the visual images used in the first film and makes them even more relevant for the age of the Internet. The story is quite poignant and allows for the viewer to get a simple visual idea as to how the Internet works from a great perspective. Once again they do a great job mixing together various video game graphics in order to make each segment still feel unique in this ever growing world of pixels. The story has a great message that works really well for both kids and adults each on their own level. The voice cast is superb and they manage to also give us some great cameos of other characters from the Disney universe which helps keep this so enjoyable. Can’t wait to see this again in order to try and catch many of the references that I might have missed the first time around. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – During the Disney Princesses room scene, Merida can be heard speaking in a heavy Scottish accent after which the other princesses tell Vanellope that no one can understand what she says because she comes from another studio. “Brave”, the movie Merida stars in, is from Pixar Animation Sudios.  (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10)
