Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Feb 2020)
Brief Synopsis – Doc Brown must go back in time to offset the advancement of technology in order to avoid an apocalyptic event from happening.
My Take on it – As a fan of The Back to the Future Trilogy, I love to watch anything connected to those characters and story line.
I recently came across this 10 minute short film that tries to find a way to explain and establish one of the most contentious points of the series.. the fact that most of the predictions in Back to the Future Part II (1989) never came to fruition.
This film is done in a very simple and straightforward manner that helps explain the discrepancies between the 2015 of that movie and the 2015 that we all experienced just a few short years ago.
Obviously, many of their technological predictions were quite bold and although some of the technologies in our word come close to those standards, we’re still quite far from being able to compete with that kind of technological world.
IT was great seeing Christopher Lloyd back in the iconic role of Doc Brown and although he does an amazing job here, one can see hos time has affected his acting and appearance.
The main things that bothered me about this film is it’s length.
It is just about ten minutes long and I think that if they would have made this film a bit longer and gone into greater detail of things, it would have been even more engaging and enjoyable to watch as things unfold in such a captivating way.
Bottom Line – Great idea that comes across so cleverly. Great seeing Lloyd back in this iconic role. Love the way that they decided to try and reconcile the idea that much of the technological advancements predicted in Back to the Future Part II (1989) never came to be. The film is a simple one with minimal effects and locations and helps explain in a succinct and plausible way why those predications never came true. Recommended!
