Tick, Tick… Boom! (2021)

“Everything you are about to see is true…except for the parts Jonathan made up.” – Susan

Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Nov 2021)

Brief Synopsis – Biographical musical about the life of songwriter Jonathan Larson.

My Take on it – Such a fun musical that has such a great message about the creative process.

Andrew Garfield does an amazing job in the lead role and manages to make his character so enjoyable to watch because the viewer wants to see what he has in store as things move along.

The story is filled with lots of social commentary on life in the late 80’s and early 90’s and shows that things haven’t changed much over the past three decades.

The songs are great and each and every one of them has its own poignant view on life and the creative process which is so profound.

Lin-Manuel Miranda does a spectacular job bringing this story to the screen because it feels so realistic and genuine from start to finish.

Love the way that the story constantly questions the work of the characters and whether they are maximizing their potential over and over because it speak wonders about the kind of conflict that most people have within themselves on a daily basis.

Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – After deciding on Andrew Garfield for the lead role, but not knowing if he could sing, Lin-Manuel Miranda asked a mutual friend, massage therapist Greg Miele, if Garfield could sing. Miele replied that Andrew had “the voice of an angel.” After Miranda left, Miele called Garfield and asked if he could sing. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
