Let’s see what Darren thought of this movie:

Gods of Egypt

Alex Proyas’ Gods of Egypt follows the legendary battle between Gods Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Set (Gerard Butler). Where mortal hero Bek (Brenton Thwaites) looks to restore the power of Horus, to bring peace back to Egypt.

After Set takes control of Egypt, killing his brother and banishing Horus, taking his eyes. A mortal thief who isn’t going to accept a slave life steals back one of the eyes. He searches for Horus to bring peace back, taking him on adventures amongst the Gods.

Being a fan of Egyptian history, a movie about the Gods was always going to appeal to me. We do get a host of mythical creatures, with Horus needing to battle against them to complete his mission. It doesn’t disappoint on the scale of the creatures and God battles.

The movie might not have been received very well but when has that ever stopped me from liking a movie? With an amazing cast of Gerard Butler, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and the late Chadwick Boseman. The three get to shine in their limited moments of seriousness.

For me, this is one of the most fun movies of recent years, one that didn’t deserve to get critical bashing it received.

My rating 3/5
