“[quoting Jack] Don’t screw up the best thing in your life just because you’re a little unsure about who you are.” – Arnie
Number of Times Seen – 5-10 times (Jan 2001 in Theater, DVD, 3 Jul 2013)
Brief Synopsis – A man is given the opportunity to see what his life would have been like had he made a different choice 10 years earlier.
My Take on it – Who hasn’t wondered at some point in their life what coulda been? How would our lives be changed had we made a different choice (going left instead of right).
This movie combines the ideas of It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) and Scrooge (1970) in all their incantations and does so in an interesting and very modern fashion.
I have never been a fan of Nicholas Cage, but he actually does a decent job here. He very competently plays both the man who is hopelessly in love with his job and then with his wife and family.
Tea Leoni is great as his wife and definitely is able to show her passion for the family life and the love of her life at the same time.
Supporting players include Jeremy Piven, Don Cheadle, Saul Rubinek, Josef Sommer, Mary Beth Hurt and Harve Presnell.
Bottom Line – Great, fun movie. based on the idea that most of us can relate to; the what if of life. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
A guy who goes to my synagogue wrote this movie, extremely nice guy, and yes an enjoyable movie!
