“[crashes into a truck windshield after a failed swing from his whip] Damn, I thought that was closer…” – Indiana Jones
Number of Times Seen – 3 (Premiere day 22 May 2008 in Theater, Dec 2012 and 24 Apr 2014)
Brief Synopsis – The continuing adventures of Indiana Jones lead him to South America to try and thwart the Russians from getting control of an ancient artifact.
My Take on it – We all waited 17 years for this movie to be made and no matter how good it is (or isn’t), the bar was set way too high by the previous 3 movies that this one didn’t even stand a chance.
It was fun to revisit Indy during the 1950’s and learn about what he did after the previous movies, but ultimately we all expected an amazing movie which no one would probably be able to deliver.
They managed to add in many of the fears of the Cold War and the 50’s into this movie, but ultimately it just felt like a vehicle to try and hand over the whip to Shia Lebouf (who plays a motorcycle riding greaser who needs Indy’s help).
As good as Lebouf is, I don’t think he would ever really be able to take over and I hope that this movie has finally put full closure on the cinematic saga of Indiana Jones.
The story itself is interesting, but the Russians are not as good enemies for Jones as the Nazi’s always were and as fun as it is seeing him here, something just feels missing and that keeps this movie from being on par with the others.
Having seen all of the episodes of the TV show The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, it was nice to see references to Indy’s early days here.
Unlike James Bond, Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones and I doubt anyone else could ever take over for him and portray the character as he has done.
Bottom Line – Not as good as the previous ones, but it was fun to revisit Indy years later and to finally give him a bit of closure. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy

Another fantastic review but ugh. This is something I was definitely not a fan of. They should have left well enough alone, though it was good to see Marion return. They should just not have made this, the more I think about it.

…as a huge fan of Indy, I was really disappointed with this one. I suppose my love of the character hampered it given such high expectations.

unfortunately it cant be ignored since it IS part of the series envisioned by Lucas and Spielberg. It isnt perfect, but fun anyway

Globe Worthy, hey? You’re being nice! Lol. I think I’d knock this down to BAFTA–if nothing else because of that ridiculous scene with Shia LeBeouf swinging through the trees with monkeys. So. Terrible. Good review though!

I teetered between the two, but since we got to see Indy in action again I did bump it up (a bit), but it all has to do with how entertained I am by a movie
