Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005) – Encore Review 2

“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed that is.” – Yoda

Brief Synopsis – In the midst of the Clone Wars, the Separatist leaders have kidnapped the Chancellor of the Republic so the Jedi launch a rescue mission.

My Take on it – Being a fan of Star Wars from the early 80’s was never an easy feat since there were always rumors about how it all happened, but we never really knew what George Lucas had in mind for the entire arc of his story.

We all had to wait over two decades, but when the prequels came out, we finally began to understand how it all came together.

Yes, there are aspects of the trilogy that aren’t as iconic as one would hope (Jar Jar), but being a true lover of the entire series, I take it all in as Lucas would want us to which includes the good, the bad and of course the great!

When, after 6 years, we finally were given the final bridge between the trilogies, it was no less than spectacular.

This film is action packed from start to finish and it includes so many answers to many of the questions that all of us fans have been dying to know for decades.

How would Anakin turn to the dark side and become Darth Vader?

Wat would the battle between Vader and Kenobi be like?

How would the Emperor destroy the Jedi Order?

What would happen to Yoda and the other Jedi leaders?

What happened to Padme after she gave birth to Luke and Leia?

and many others…

The battles (both one on one and the galactic ones) are extremely action packed and are the most emotional of the entire series.

It was definitely worth the near 30 year wait to see how this all eventually comes together.

I know many fans have criticism of the prequel trilogy, but I personally love anything and everything Star Wars, so none of it really disappoints me at all, but I personally think that this film really delivers it all as it should.

I’m aware of Lucas’ issues with dialogue and how it mostly seems hollow, but his ability to create a storyline and plot that is so gripping and amazing makes him one of the best storytellers ever.

The music by John Williams is amazing as always!

This film always gets me on an emotional level and it’s hard to not shed tears when the Order 66 is executed.

I can watch this over and over and I think I will…. 🙂

Bottom Line – Best of the prequel trilogy because of the way it all finally comes together. The battles are the most emotional and action packed of the entire series. It was worth the near 30 year wait to finally see how it all began.  Many people have lots of criticism of this film, but it really delivers like it was meant to.  Lucas still has trouble writing dialogue, but the way the plot and story weave its way through it all is superbly done. For fans like me, this film has many emotional scenes and the Order 66 scenes always makes me shed tears. Highly Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The original cut of the film ran nearly four hours. The opening battle/Palpatine rescue alone ran over an hour. The extra footage of the Palpatine rescue scene is shown in the video game for this movie however. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (no change from original review)
