This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!
“Sometimes the illusions work better than the medicine.” – Sally
Number of Times Seen – 1 (7 Aug 2020)
Brief Synopsis – As a woman’s marriage begins to break up, she must also deal with her father’s impulsive divorce and quick remarriage to a woman many years his junior
Bottom Line – Not among Woody Allen’s best films. The cast is superb but the characters aren’t developed well enough. As usual, Allen’s dialogue for the characters are fun diatribes, but since the characters are all superficial, it’s problematic. Just being able to see Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin and Antonio Bandaras together is worth taking a look.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Writer and Director Woody Allen said that he initially thought he would not be able to get Sir Anthony Hopkins (Alfie) to agree to appear in this movie. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
