Brief Synopsis – An orphan dreams of becoming a pilot and traveling the galaxy.

My Take on it – As a fan of StarWarsMinute, I avidly listen to their podcast daily and yesterday they finished their 10th season with their analysis of this film.

I decided to rewatch it in order to see many of the things that Pete and Alex and their guests have referenced over the past 6+ months of this season.

I love to watch a movie after learning so much more about it and this time was no exception.

Despite having seen this movie 10 times before, There were still lots of things that I had missed that their scrutinizing of the movie has brought to my attention.

Many people dislike this film, but I have always enjoyed it ever since I first saw it and it gets better and better every single time that I’ve subsequently seen it.

The most annoying things about the production of this movie is the secrecy behind what was in the original version directed by Lord and Miller and the reasoning for the eventual firing of them as directors followed by the Producers bringing in Ron Howard to try and salvage things.

Pete and Alex did their best with trying to cull some insight into that, but ultimately, we’ll have to wait a long time before it will hopefully be revealed to us (maybe as a special Previous Directors Cut) 🙂

As origin stories go, this one is great and finds ways to work in many of the aspects of what is known about the character of Han Solo but by doing most of it in subtle ways so as not to overwhelm the audience.

The plot of the film is great and I love the fact that they didn’t need to connect it with anything already known.

The special effects are amazing and add so much in order to enhance things.

Of all of the films in the Star Wars Universe, this one feels the most lived in and that also adds so much to the feel of things along the way.

Can’t wait to see this again! and eagerly look forward to Pete and Alex’s analysis of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) in early 2023!
