Number of Times Seen – 1 (26 Feb 2017)
Brief Synopsis – The origin story of how the fast food franchise, we all know and love got started.
My Take on it – This is actually a film that I’ve been looking forward to seeing for a while because I have always been a big fan of Michael Keaton’s work and especially of John Lee Hancock’s based on fact films like The Rookie (2002).
I think Keaton was the perfect choice for the lead role because he is able to play both lovable and despicable at the same time.
His character here is just that and because such a charismatic actor was given the role, it works so well because despite it all, we still feel endeared to him.
It was truly fascinating to learn from this film what actually transpired to make a small hamburger joint blossom into the industry giant we all know (and love).
This film proves once again that it doesn’t really matter the time or place, because business is business and it doesn’t matter the size of your company just the size of how big you can eventually inflate everything in your wallet.
For better or for worse, that’s the way business is, will be and always has been.
Bottom Line – Keaton is great as the lead here because he is able to be both lovable and despicable at the same time. Fascinating to see how things began and where they moved forward to over time. Shows that business has always been business no matter the kind of company. Hancock does a great job telling us another true story that we need to know about. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Director John Lee Hancock and producer Jeremy Renner were so helpful in preparation for shooting the film that they provided Michael Keaton with a great amount of video footage and interviews of the real Ray Kroc. This included making previously unpublished and even on the internet unavailable material for Keaton as a reference for and guidance to Ray Kroc’s voice, patterns of speech and mannerisms. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
