Brief Synopsis – A patriotic young man tries to join the War effort during World War II but is constantly rejected due to lack of physical strength. He ends up joining an experimental trial which will possibly turn him into a super soldier.
My Take on it – Captain America has always been my favorite Marvel superhero!
They do an amazing job here with the origin story of Steve Rogers because they delve right in to how and why he became the most patriotic superhero that we know.
Loved the way that they kept almost the entire story in the 1940’s because it’s basically a World War II film with added supernatural effects that help bring it into the world of superheros.
This keeps things quite unique in the entire MCU, which helps it stand out.
The story itself is quite compelling and moves along at an amazing pace because it gives us so much to enjoy the whole way through.
The added addition of subtle special effects and technology to the story helped enhance the story taking it to a whole new level.
Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Hayley Atwell are great additions to the MCU universe and do a wonderful job supporting Chris Evans as the Captain!
Bottom Line – Great addition to the MCU because it is such an amazing origin story that helps us understand who Captain America really is. The fact that it almost entirely takes place during World War II makes it quite unique in the MCU canon. Great to see how Steve Rogers became the superhero that we all know and love. Compelling story that moves along at a great pace. Loved the subtle special effects and technology used to enhance the storyline and show the otherworldly look of a world filled with superheros. Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Hayley Atwell surprisingly touching Chris Evans’ chest, as he emerged from the pod upon turning into Captain America, was very much improvised, and the surprise on her face is genuine, as she admitted in interviews she was very taken by Chris’ physique and nearly broke character and ruined the take that made it into the film, as a result.
