Brief Synopsis – As Captain America tries to acclimate to modern society, he must now stop a new threat that has appeared known as the Winter Soldier

My Take on it – This is such an amazing sequel to Captain America’s story because they take the time and effort to build on the previous chapter while still moving things forward at a great pace.

We get to know to a greater level how “pure” of a soul Captain America really is and where his loyalties and duty truly stand when he is forced to make choices.

The added plot points dealing with how Cap needs to acclimate to the modern world helps bridge the gap between the two time periods that he lives.

As a fan of political intrigue films, they do a wonderful job here helping things move through the labyrinth of political positions that is hidden slightly below the surface.

The action here is amazing and they are able to take things t a whole new level with the way it all is done.

They do a great job keeping things seemingly realistic due to the minimal use of special effects while telling a story like this.

One of the best films in the MCU canon!

Bottom Line – Great sequel to the Captain America story because it not only shows how he struggles to join the modern world, but also must work his way through the labyrinth of politics that still permeates the world. The action sequences are amazing and I loved how they kept strong connections to the previous film yet were able to move things forward to another level.  Loved the way that they try to make this all seem so realistic by not using much special effects when telling a story like this.  Really shows how “pure” a soul Captain America truly is where his duty and loyalties stand.  Amazing addition to the MCU canon! Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Unlike other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “The Winter Soldier” minimizes the use of visual effects as much as possible. Anthony Mackie elaborated: “The Russos, what they did that was so great was, they wanted to stay with live action, which is a dying art form…If they could build it, they built it. If we could do it, we did it. They wanted to do as little CGI as possible. That’s why the movie looks so great.” (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (no change from original review)

  2. One of my favorites in the “universe” as well. The 2 Captain America’s and the first Iron Man are probably my favorites out of the bunch.
