Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

“You put a dime in him, you got to let the whole song play out. ” – Dave

Number of Times Seen – 1 (24 Jul 2018)

Brief Synopsis – While under house arrest, Scott Lange must find a way to help Hank and Hope find a solution to their important research that could help them save Hope’s mother who went missing 30 years earlier.

My Take on it – AS a kid, I was always a much bigger fan of superheroes in the DC Universe as opposed to the ones in Marvel.

Over the past decade, the MCU has given us a great story arc for all of its superheroes on screen and things are still going strong even after mor ethan 20 films.

Love how this film takes things in a very different direction than the previous films which gives it the added bonus of being a part of an overall story arc yet still give us an enjoyable individual storyline that doesn’t need to serve the purpose of the overall arc.

The tone of this film is extremely light which helps given how the events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) affected very heavily on the entire MCU.

The characters i this film (both new and old) are so enjoyable to watch and they managed to keep things entertaining the entire time.

I must admit that Ant-Man has never been among my favorite superheroes but Paul Rudd does an amazing job making his character so fun to watch and proving how important even the “smaller” heroes can be in the overall MCU.

This film is able to give us so much hope for the future of the MCU since even after 20 films, they are still going strong and find a way to make all of the characters integral to the overall story arc while still making the individual storyline interesting and unique in its own right.

Bottom Line – Another great addition to the entire MCU that takes things in a different direction. The tone of this film is very light which was much needed after the events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and its repercussions.  The characters (both new and old) are so much fun to watch and they help manage to keep things enjoyable the entire time.  The character of Ant-Man has always been among my least favorites in the MCU, but this film once again highlights the advantages of such a great superhero that is a great addition to the team.  Once again, this film gives us lots of hope for the future of the MCU because even the “smaller” heroes are able to give us some great and enjoyable storylines. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Scott grumbles that just wearing a hat and sunglasses does not conceal your identity. This has been a running joke among fans, since several MCU characters have used this technique including: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Nick Fury, and Falcon. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10)

  1. Interesting that 2 of my favorite recent movies in these series – this one and Deadpool – both had screenplays co-written by the stars who played the title characters.
