Number of Times Seen – 1 (9 Feb 2020)
Brief Synopsis – A local sanitation worker who is the descended from the town elders of centuries past is the key to stopping trolls from taking over their small town.
My Take on it – As a kid in the 80’s,. I was quite familiar with the character of Ernest because he was on TV all the time.
The fact that they ended up making a few movies about his character still makes me cringe even though I never chose to watch any of them until now.
This film is horrible from start to finish.
Nothing makes sense and one wishes it would end so much quicker because it’s quite painful watching this all occur.
Jim Varney is truly perfect in this role, but It still doesn’t mean that I would want to watch this character for 90 minutes when I could suffice for a 30 second commercial instead.
The film’s special effects are quite poorly done and they make things even sillier than they already are without them because it all looks so fake throughout.
This film is meant for kids, but It’s quite difficult to actually believe that kids would find anything that happens here to be enjoyable.
The plot goes on various tangents along the wya that never seem to really add much to the overall story and instead make sit seem as if they were just trying to elongate the movie’s run time.
This is a film that one should probably steer clear away from unless you lose a bet or unless you enjoy watching really bad movie while intoxicated.
Bottom Line – Absolutely horrible film that doesn’t make any sense at all. Varney is perfect in this terrible role that he became popular for. The story is quite silly and even kids wouldn’t really enjoy what they try to do here. The special effects are quite primitive and help make this look so fake. Stay away unless you lose a bet or are extremely inebriated.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The Chiodo Brothers are credited with Special Effects for this film, who also made the 1988 cult film Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988). Look for Trolls in the finale that resemble Klowns, as well as the same spinning death effect. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (1/10)
