Lord of War (2005)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“[narrating] There are two types of tragedies in life. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it.” – Yuri Orlov

Number of Times Seen – Twice (23 Apr 2007 and 17 Dec 2020)

Brief Synopsis – An arms dealer being chased y an INTERPOL agent tries to deal with the morality of his work.

Bottom Line – Really bring film that doesn’t manage to do much. Nicholas Cage is wasted in this film and the way that his character is portrayed just isn’t very believable. They fail to develop any of the characters and they all come across as being quite superficial. The action scenes are completely uninteresting to watch and the way that things play out just doesn’t work well at all because this kind of story should be much more engaging than it truly is.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – According to writer and director Andrew Niccol, the filmmakers worked with actual gunrunners in the making of this movie. The tanks lined up for sale were real, and belonged to a Czech arms dealer, who had to have them back to sell to another country. They used a real stockpile of over three thousand AK-47s, because it was cheaper than getting prop guns. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (2/10)
