“Pardon my French, but Cameron is so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up his ass, in two weeks you’d have a diamond.” – Ferris
Number of Times Seen – Too many to count (Theater, DVD, 23 Jul 2013)
Brief Synopsis – A high school senior decides to take a day off out school and enlists help from his best friend and his girlfriend to make the day the best one ever.
My Take on it – This iconic classic is one of the best teenage angst movies ever made. Matthew Broderick is excellent as the title character and this role will always be burned into my head as his best role in his lengthy career.
It’s funny watching this movie 28 years after I first saw it in the theater because it still wakes up the teenager in me and I can still understand his motivation and concerns.
I think that’s actually one of the reasons that this movie was so well received; most people can understand why a teenager would want to take a day off from school to have a time of his life. As a teen, my friends and I were always envious of Ferris who had the guts to do what none of us would ever be able to do.
Excellent cast. Besides Broderick, Jennifer Grey, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara and Jeffrey Jones are all great here.
Bottom Line – Very Fun movie. One of Hughes’ best films. Highly Recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy
Words can’t disrobe how good this film is 🙂

And I remember people leaving the movie theatre while Ferris was still talking to us. That was the first time that had been done that I recall, talking to the audience.

yep. it was also ingenious how they got everyone to stay. they kept the story going throughout the credits (something Seinfeld would later adopt to get more laughs into his show)
